Energy Healing What is it? Probably the first hands-on therapy in the world. Energy healing is when one person sends or transmits energy to another person for the sole purpose of healing. Although it is probably the old form of healing, very little is actually understood scientifically. More and more is learned each year about this healing art form. What does it do? Energy healing is based on the idea that people are electrical beings and that we can literally channel universal energy and send energy to another person for their own use. Energy healers channel energy available to all of us for the purpose of assisting the body’s own healing. Energy healing is reported to help cleanse the energy field of a person and help to balance and clear the chakra system. The chakra system is an extremely old system of describing the energy field of each person. It lines up with the major glands of the endocrine system and is thought to act as the blueprint for the body. What can I expect? Different energy workers do different things. So it is challenging to suggest what you can expect. But in general the work will be gentle and safe. Depending on what kind of training, if any, energy workers will either “run” energy with their hands on or off the body. Energies are also removed from the system as well. Some energy workers do distance work. Some will talk during the sessions and others won’t. Energy Work is a very broad term. Many body therapists are by nature doing energy work. What are the reported benefits? Energy work is helpful in many ways, most of which have not been measured. It can help with i ncreased circulation, faster recovery time, feeling better, more energy, helping with emotional issues. Be sure to get appropriate care in addition if needed. It w orks nicely with other modalities whether allopathic or alternative. How much does it cost? Energy Healing ranges in price from free to $100 or more per hour. What kind of training does my Energy Worker have? Training varies enormously. Some of the most popular training programs are Barbara Brennan’s four year program, or Rosalyn Bruyere & The Alliance Institute of Integrative Medicine certification program and Carolyn Myss also offers training through workshops as well. Another organization called Healing Touch also offers certification and training. Some people develop their own way of healing that is learned from within so there is no training outside the self.
